Interview with Aude Copin
We spoke with Aude Copin, a French artist who blends traditional painting and digital illustration to create vibrant, colourful works that pay tribute to the intricate beauty of life.
You conduct meticulous research before each piece. What is your creative process like?
Yes, before each creation, I carry out thorough research. I studied graphic design and also earned a diploma in jewellery design from a specialist school, which has given me a particular sensitivity when it comes to selecting shapes and colours. I choose each hue and structure based on the style and essence I want to convey in the image.
Additionally, I deeply study Ibiza’s fauna and flora to incorporate characteristic elements of the island into my works, placing its essence at the heart of my creations. Inspired by Ibiza’s bohemian spirit, I also integrate hippie elements and other symbols that represent the island, such as its iconic landscapes, magical sunsets and the vibrant energy of its beaches.
Your paintings make use of AI, Photoshop and Illustrator. What possibilities do these cutting-edge tools offer you?
In my work, I use advanced tools such as artificial intelligence, Photoshop and Illustrator, which give me great creative freedom and the ability to experiment in innovative ways. Artificial intelligence, for example, allows me to explore new shapes and patterns, generating visual effects that would be impossible to achieve using traditional techniques. This technology helps me build complex compositions and explore style in a dynamic way.
Photoshop and Illustrator give me precision and flexibility when manipulating images. In Photoshop, I work with layers, filters and effects that add depth and texture to my work, while Illustrator allows me to create sharp, detailed vector graphics that are perfect for integrating graphic elements into my compositions. These tools also enable me to blend digital techniques with more traditional methods, such as painting, to create unique works that merge the modern with the classic.
Altogether, these tools allow me to turn ideas into rich, complex visual realities, giving me the freedom to experiment endlessly and fully unleash my creativity.
Why do you combine these digital tools with traditional painting? What does this symbiosis allow you to achieve?
I combine digital tools like AI, Photoshop and Illustrator with traditional painting because this fusion allows me to expand my creative possibilities and explore new forms of expression. Traditional painting brings a tactile quality, richness in texture and spontaneity that are difficult to replicate digitally, while digital tools offer precision, flexibility and the freedom to experiment without limits.
This symbiosis allows me to draw from the best of both worlds: the warmth and depth of manual techniques together with the innovation and versatility of technology. Thanks to this combination, I can play more dynamically with colours, forms and compositions, adjusting every detail to achieve the visual harmony I seek. Moreover, integrating hand-painted elements into a digital setting helps me create unique pieces that convey a sense of authenticity, balance and modernity—always maintaining a strong connection with artistic tradition.
What themes have you chosen for your exhibition at Amàre Beach Hotel Ibiza? Why?
For my exhibition at Amàre Beach Hotel Ibiza, I have chosen themes that capture the island’s essence and its vibrant energy. My works explore the fauna and flora of Ibiza, incorporating natural elements that are typical of the island, such as Mediterranean landscapes, warm colours and its magical light.
IBIZA WILD: Ibiza, a wild island, is home to fascinating creatures—the Podenco dogs, symbols of freedom; the mysterious and discreet snakes; and the majestic flamingos in the lagoons. This collection pays tribute to the island’s unique wildlife, capturing its untamed spirit and natural beauty.
IBIZA MIRAGE: The air is hot, the sand glowing under a sky ablaze with orange and gold. In this desert dream, the night awakens before the sun fades. Bodies move, wild and free, draped in flowing fabrics, bold colours and shimmering jewels. Gold catches the firelight, laughter blends with deep, hypnotic beats. Ibiza is not just an island, it’s a mirage—a pulse of freedom where fashion speaks and the night holds endless magic.
IBIZA TANIT: Tanit, the goddess of Ibiza, embodies nature, fertility and protection. Her fierce gaze lights up the horizon each evening, while the lion—symbol of strength and courage—walks by her side. Together, they guard a kingdom where life and magic intertwine, a reminder of the sacred power that flows through the island—eternal and unyielding.
IBIZA PUERTA SOLAR: Las Puertas del Cielo & El Reloj Solar. Portals of the Unknown. On Ibiza’s cliffs, Las Puertas del Cielo stands as a threshold between worlds, where time dissolves and the sky opens into eternity. As the sun sinks, whispers of ancient energy flow, guiding lost souls beyond. Nearby, El Reloj Solar rises like a forgotten monument, its towering stones aligned with celestial forces, pulsing with quiet power. In these sacred places, Ibiza unveils its hidden soul, where the veil between the known and the mystical fades.
IBIZA ARMONÍA: Ibiza welcomes those seeking freedom and the raw beauty of nature. Its beaches, cliffs and sunsets become silent witnesses to a deep connection with the island. Those who leave carry a piece of its energy within them, transformed, as if the island has whispered a secret to their soul. And so, the eternal cycle continues.
This selection of themes reflects my desire to create a visual dialogue between the island and the viewer, offering a sensory experience in which art becomes a reflection of Ibiza’s magic.
What drew you to exhibit your work at Amàre Beach Hotel Ibiza?
I was drawn to Amàre Beach Hotel Ibiza because it perfectly reflects the fusion of art, design and Mediterranean lifestyle. Its sophisticated, contemporary aesthetic, combined with its privileged seafront location, creates an ideal environment to connect with art in a sensory and immersive way.
In addition, the hotel shares values that resonate with my work—such as the pursuit of beauty, harmony and artistic experience as a way of life. Exhibiting at Amàre Beach Hotel Ibiza allows me to bring my art to an audience that values aesthetics, innovation and a deep connection with the island, offering a visual experience that complements the unique atmosphere of the space.
How do you hope the public will respond to your exhibition Odd Collection: Vibrant Illusions?
I hope the public will immerse themselves in Odd Collection: Vibrant Illusions as a sensory journey that awakens both imagination and a sense of connection to Ibiza. I want my works to evoke emotion, to invite contemplation and the exploration of the hidden details within each piece.
I hope viewers will feel the island’s vibrant energy reflected in the colours, forms and symbolic elements I use. That they will perceive the fusion of the natural and the digital, of tradition and innovation—and that each piece will offer a small fragment of Ibiza, reinterpreted through my artistic lens.
I also hope the exhibition becomes a space for inspiration and escapism, where art is not only observed, but experienced. That the images evoke memories, sensations, or simply a moment of disconnection from the outside world, allowing themselves to be carried away by the island’s magic and its transformative essence.
