From Cala Benirrás to the Ses Salines Natural Park, the extensive west coast offers a multitude of places to see Ibiza’s spectacular sunsets, famous for their colour and, above all, the atmosphere and magic created around this moment of the day. A natural spectacle that can be enjoyed on the island 365 days a year, as long as the clouds or mist don’t decide to steal the sun’s limelight!
Where is the best sunset in Ibiza?
You can enjoy this moment exactly how you prefer, whether it’s surrounded by nature in silence or you’re looking for a sunset worthy of the list of the most Instagrammable places in Ibiza. We divided our selection of sunsets into four categories so you’ll know which one to choose according to your preferences.
Ibiza’s most famous sunsets
Es Vedrà
The cliffs that precede Cala d’Hort are a fabulous viewpoint over Ibiza’s most famous islet and its small companion, Es Vedranell. On days when there is no mist, it’s possible to see the coast of Alicante. Very popular all year round, it’s difficult to park in the area as dusk approaches during the summer months.
How to get there: by car, motorbike or taxi.
Best time of year: great all year round.
Combines well with: a day at the beach in Cala d’Hort.
Cala Benirrás
Although the islet of Es Cap Bernat gives it a special charm, this sunset became such a popular and well-attended event thanks to the drumming show offered by a group of drumming enthusiasts on Sunday afternoons. This date has been taken out of the weekly calendar, but the sunset is still just as beautiful. Don’t miss it!
How to get there: by car, motorbike, taxi or the L23 and L23A buses.
Best season: May to August.
Combines well with: dinner at Elements Ibiza.
Ses Variades
The area of the promenade of Sant Antoni known as Ses Variades is one of the best places in Ibiza to watch the sunset accompanied by music. In fact, it is here that you will find the legendary Café del Mar, famous across the world for its chill-out music sessions. Another Ibizan landmark where you can watch the sunset with DJ sessions is Café Mambo. If you continue along the promenade towards Caló des Moro, you will find terraces where you can enjoy this moment in a more relaxed atmosphere.
How to get there: on foot, from the centre of Sant Antoni.
Best time of year: all year round, although cafés are only open from May to October.
Combines well with: dinner in Sant Antoni.
Platges de Comte (Cala Conta)
Any time of year is good to come and enjoy the sunset in Cala Conta (the name given to the little coves of Platges de Comte), but in summer you will find the beach bars open. What makes this sunset so special? Its youthful atmosphere, the group of islets on the horizon and the fact that you will enjoy it in one of the best coves in Ibiza.
How to get there: by car, motorbike, taxi, the L4 bus and the ferry from Sant Antoni.
Best time of year: great all year round.
Combines well with: dinner at Bar Can Berri, in Sant Agustí.
Portmany Bay
The southern side of the bay of Portmany has many great places you can watch the sunset. Some are well known, like the Kumharas restaurant, and others so quiet that you will hardly see another person. Enjoy a hiking route along the coast and find your favourite spot.
How to get there: on foot, by car, motorbike, taxi, the L6 bus and the ferry from Sant Antoni.
Best season: May to October.
Combines well with: dinner in Hayaca.

Top Tips for an Unforgettable Sunset Experience in Ibiza
- Arrive Early: Arrive at least an hour before sunset to secure a good spot and soak in the pre-sunset ambiance. Popular locations can get crowded, so arriving early ensures the best view.
- Bring Snacks and Drinks: Pack a small picnic with local wine, fresh fruit, and snacks to enjoy while watching the sun go down. Alternatively, order a drink at one of the beachfront bars for the full experience.
- Dress Comfortably: Sunset spots in Ibiza can be rocky or sandy, so wear comfortable shoes. Bring a light jacket, as it can get chilly once the sun has set.
- Capture the Moment: Bring a camera or smartphone to capture the changing colors, but don’t forget to take a moment to enjoy it in person. A tripod can be useful for taking more professional shots.
- Enjoy with Music: Café del Mar and Café Mambo offer iconic sunset soundtracks with their live DJ sets. If you’re at a quieter location, bring a portable speaker and play some mellow music to set the mood.
- Respect Nature: Keep your area clean and bring a bag to collect any trash. Ibiza’s natural beauty is a big part of its charm, so do your part to protect it.
- Avoid the Crowds at Secret Spots: For a more intimate experience, explore lesser-known areas like Cala Llentia or Punta Galera. These places are less crowded, offering a more private sunset experience.
- Embrace the Afterglow: Stick around after the sun dips below the horizon, as the sky often lights up with even more beautiful colors afterward. This “blue hour” is also a great time for photos.
- Bring a Blanket or Beach Mat: A blanket or mat can make it more comfortable to sit for longer periods, especially at rocky locations like Punta Galera.
- Take in Local Culture: At Benirràs Beach, the drumming sessions by locals and travelers celebrating the sunset are a must-see and truly unique.
- Check the Weather: A clear day is best for watching the sunset, so check the forecast beforehand to avoid any cloud cover that might obstruct the view.
